ASSAM: - HOME OF THE BRAHMAPUTRA.

Assam , the second largest state of the North East is also known as the land home of the mighty rivers Brahmaputra . It is one of the most developed states in the North East as it is been blessed with one of the main sources of its revenue . It is known for its highest timbers producers of the country. Digboi town is known for its oldest and Asia’s first oil refinery. Her tea estates produce over half of the country’s production.

Assam, as it is blessed with natural resources and became very much accessible to the North East and was the reason why it has been ruled for six centuries by the brave Ahoms (Shyam tribal of Burma). We can see some of the historical places, like temples around sibsagar tanks etc.

The rich bio-diversity of the state supports an immense range of rare and endangered creatures which you will find in the great Kaziranga Wild life sanctuary known for one horn rhino . The project tiger reserve Manas Wild life sanctuary is a world heritage site . Assam is also home to the world’s largest inhabited river Island Majuli .
